One of the most eagerly awaited films of this year is the Rajinikanth - Aishwarya Rai starrer Endhiran - The Robot.The film, a trilingual (Tamil, Telugu and Hindi), is directed by Shankar.Its a science fiction movie.
Endhiran - The Robot is touted as one of the most expensive films with a heavy dose of special effects.The film has been in the making for quite some time now.The music of the film composed by Oscar winner A. R. Rahman has been released on 31st July.
One of the highlights of this film is that Rajinikanth would be seen without his famed moustache in most parts thereby making him look much younger.Rajnikanth plays a dual role in the film.N also,Rajnikanth will be seen in 100 different styles during a song in the film!
The film was offered to some highly famed actors in Indian cinema – Mahesh babu, Chiranjeevi, and Shah Rukh Khan – who rejected the project in 2007 calling it "half baked".
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan agreed for a whooping amount of Rs. 6 crores for the film, becoming the highest paid actress during that time.
Shankar is contemplating on a 3D version, the conversion would be done digitally during post production (like in the new Harry Potter film).The film has been shot extensively in locations across India, US and Brasil.The fight scenes in the film were choreographed by Yuen Woo-ping, who worked on ‘The Matrix’, the animatronics and puppetry were done by Hollywood’s Stan Winston Studios, the visual effects/CGI were rendered by Industrial Light & Magic.
